Backpacks For The Street

A grassroots movement to bring compassion and dignity to the streets, and make the lives of the homeless better.

Homelessness in New York City is at an all-time high.

In October, 2018, nearly 68,000 people were homeless and living in NYC shelters, including 22,511 children. That’s 82% higher than it was 10 years ago.

Additionally, more than 4,000 people were unsheltered.

BFTS also hands out specialty kits for different needs, including FemPacks, with feminine hygiene products such as maxi pads and tampons; and BarkPacks, with food and treats for canine companions.

We are out on the streets, every day, rain or shine, giving out backpacks, necessities and food to homeless and hungry. We also give gloves and emergency Mylar blankets all winter long.

Homelessness does not take a holiday or a snow day. It’s a 24/7 epidemic, where there is always someone in need. Now is the time to join the movement, and make a difference.
